WASHINGTON — A 312-page year-end accomplishments report distributed to Cabinet members Sunday afternoon contains 847 references to President Trump, 312 photographs of President Trump, and exactly one acknowledgment that there is also a country he is technically running.
The single mention of the United States appears on page 204, in a footnote, and is immediately followed by a parenthetical clarifying that the country ‘belongs to’ the president. Aides described the formatting as ‘standard.’
The bound volume, titled 2025: A Historic Year in Trump, opens with a foreword by Trump, a preface by Trump, an introduction by Trump, and a chapter titled ‘Why The First Three Sections Were Necessary,’ also by Trump. Chapter Two, on the post-shutdown economy, consists entirely of a photograph of the president pointing at a chart that has been redacted.
‘It’s a comprehensive accounting of everything that happened this year,’ said Brennan Hask, a senior communications strategist at the firm Vellum & Posset, which was retained to copy-edit the document down from its original 1,400 pages. ‘We removed most of the references to the 2020 election, several to Rosie O’Donnell, and a forty-page section that turned out to be the script of Air Force One with the names changed.’
Among the listed accomplishments: ‘Ended a war,’ ‘Ended a different war,’ ‘Was nominated for things,’ and ‘Made the boats stop.’ A two-page spread celebrates the resolution of the federal shutdown, crediting Trump with both starting it and finishing it, an arc the report describes as ‘novelistic.’
The Mamdani transition in New York receives a single sentence noting that the city ‘will regret this’ and is paired with a full-page glamour shot of Mar-a-Lago at golden hour. A separate appendix lists every billionaire who has called the president since November 5, organized by net worth and degree of contrition.
Pages 178 through 196 are devoted to Operation Southern Spear, which the report categorizes under ‘Holiday Highlights’ alongside the National Christmas Tree lighting and a recipe for stuffing attributed to the First Lady but apparently sourced from the back of a Pepperidge Farm bag. The recipe, like the operation, calls for liberal application of explosives.
‘This is not a year-end report. This is a yearbook he made for himself,’ said Dr. Ilana Vresh, a presidential historian at the Atlantic Heartland Project, who reviewed an early copy. ‘There’s a senior superlative page. He won every category. Including Most Likely to Succeed and Best Hair, which he is sharing with no one.’
Democratic lawmakers, reached during the Thanksgiving recess they took approximately ninety seconds after reopening the government, declined to comment on grounds that they had not finished the report, were not going to finish the report, and suspected no one had been intended to.
The volume’s final page, reserved by tradition for an outlook on the year ahead, contains a single line in 48-point font: More.
